(KRON) -- A 17-year-old boy was arrested Friday night when police found an unserialized gun and more than an ounce of marijuana in his car.
Around 9:20 p.m., police stopped a 17-year-old San Mateo resident for a "lighting equipment violation" in the area of East 4th Avenue and Railroad Avenue. Officers said they smelled marijuana coming from the car and saw an open container of marijuana prompting a probable cause search.
Police said they found a loaded, unserialized -- commonly referred to as ghost guns -- Glock-style gun in the car as well as more than an ounce of marijuana.
Police arrested the boy and charged him with being a minor in possession of a handgun, carrying a loaded firearm in public, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm while not being the registered owner, and possession of more than an ounce of marijuana.
He was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall.
