Bay Area weather pattern shift to bring lower temperatures

Posted

(BCN) -- Friday in the Bay Area calls for warm conditions with mostly sunny skies across most of the region during the day, except near the coast where dense fog and cloud cover are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Daytime highs will be mostly in the mid 60s to low 70s on the coast, mid 60s to low 80s around the bay, and low 80s to low 90s inland. Overnight lows will be in the mid 50s to low 60s.

Forecasters say after days of unseasonably warm weather, the Bay Area is expected to cool down this weekend as a shift in weather patterns brings cooler air into the region.

Inland temps will remain warm Friday but are expected to move closer to normal for early October. Coastal low clouds are also expected to increase overnight and into Friday morning, the NWS says.

The bigger change is expected to arrive late Friday and Saturday, when northwest winds will bring cooler air into the region. The weather service expects a noticeable drop in temps Saturday as the weather pattern shifts and allows cooler air to reach the surface.

The cooldown will be most noticeable inland, where temps have been running well above normal in recent days, according to the NWS.
